GlobalProtect VPN authentication failed (invalid username or password)

Problem:

User cannot connect to GlobalProtect VPN due to authentication failure


Symptoms:

- "Authentication failed" error

- "Invalid username or password"

- VPN login keeps failing

- User recently changed password


Cause:

Cached credentials or incorrect login format after password change


Resolution:

1. Verify correct username format (e.g. email or domain\username)

2. Confirm password works on another system (email, SSO, etc.)

3. Open GlobalProtect client

4. Click Sign Out (if available)

5. Close GlobalProtect completely

6. Reopen GlobalProtect

7. Enter credentials manually (do not use saved password)

8. Attempt connection again
